Mailbox HL2?

If you read the last valve info only post, the game will be played in letterbox form (the top and bottom of the screen is black). That, in my opinion, would be so horrible. I hope there's an option where you can make it full screen, because letterbox gameplay would just suck. Your opinions on the subject?
