Major Problems

Here is some major things I recognized problem wise with the Deathmatch, I know it's early stages, so hopefully someone will recognize these...

1) You start with too many weapons... I dont even like the gravity gun personally, but I think you should start with that and just the pistol, that way you can choose between either one, but the machine gun and gernades you shouldnt start with, especially since they both can blow shit up and kill people in basically one hit

2) the whole health and armor thing... thats the major problem with deathmatch games that leave the health and armor, is people will hyberinate (specially teams) around the spots where they are at, just so they can get in a shoot out, fill up, and they'll be back to normal again just like that... they should maybe leave the armor stations in, but only like one on smaller levels, and take the ****in health stations and health packets out... they are everywhere... Halo2 took the health out of the deathmatch because of all the problems with it in Halo1, it's the same deal here

3) weapons are really uneven... I mean, why is the rocket launcher so easy to get, and why does the magnum have better aim then the pistol and kill people with one shot? it doesn't make sense, especially when people camp with the magnum, depending where they locate themselves, it's near impossible to even kill them without taking one first.

4) Levels... I know there's only 2 right now, but out of those 2, the jail one really sucks... the way it's set up is just way too many open room spaces, especially with the uneven weapon schemes and starting weapon shit... I do like the city level though in the streets... also Im hoping that they dont only pick one level in that contest they're having... they should take all the good levels and put them all in the game, and just give the prize money to the best one, but keep them all... they need at least 10 good death match levels in the end

5) More customizable options... like I said with the armor and health, options to take that off, options to pick and choose which weapons you can/can not start with, options to pick which weapons you can get on the board, etc. etc...

I mean don't get me wrong, the death match is a lot of fun, it's just really uneven for the time being, especially if you can learn how to exploit the unfair advantages (which isnt that hard) ... the whole gravity gun thing is genius (even though I dont really use it), and the concept is amazing... and the problems I stated really aren't major issues by any means, it's pretty much easy shit that could be fixed... I dont know, this is just stuff I noticed as I played... Ill prolly stick to Counter Strike for the time being, but if they can tweak the deathmatch up a little bit, Ill prolly forget Counter Strike was even created

Also, the lagg. My freind is on a broadband, connecting to a UK server (hes in UK) but was still on 236 ping.
CS hes like a 56.

Some of ur arguments are alright. But why do u want these changes? HL2 dm doesnt have to be like ALL other deathmatchs. Make it something different.

Its awesome! I was pwnin with about 716 ping!!!!!
awesome!!!!

I came 2nd.

that's the thing, Half Life 2 deathmatch is already different then other death match with the whole physics thing, the way the equality is though needs to be like other deathmatch games

I've found the MP7 to be pretty weak. The accuracy is appalling and it takes quite a few hits to put someone down. Contrast this with the Combine Rifle and Magnum.

At medium to long range the Pistol is the better option. I think the MP7 should actually be enhanced until it becomes a formidable weapon in it's own right. After all, aren't we trying to create a fair Deathmatch game that discriminates according to skill, and not according to who spawned first?

Is that really a major problem? I haven't seen anyone camping health pickups and I don't think there's a whole lot point of to doing so. If you're on full health then you'll want to attack - playing defensively is no way to win. I see health as something that actually makes the game fairer because it puts people on a level playing field.

Halo 2 didn't have health but it achieved the same effect.

Agree.

I despise people who camp for more than thirty seconds. It's cheap and boring. I especially dislike rocket campers up on the top.

Until I 'nade them or bust out my 357, anyway.
