Mario 2d goodness, a timely return

Hate to interrupt all the cheering, but will the Wii play the Gamecube discs or will I have to download them?

Yes it accepts them.

No, that's Super Paper Mario. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is an RPG in the style of the first Paper Mario on the N64 and, to some degree, Super Mario RPG on the SNES. Super Paper Mario is apparently a platformer with RPG elements.
OK thank you for clearing that up. Super Paper Mario. I've always liked RPG's, so this game might be right up my alley. :stare:

I'm surprised you haven't tried it yourself, SearanoX.

That may be because Super Paper Mario was announced this E3 and won't be out for several months. But it may not be.

Oh this game isn't out yet? Oh, no wonder. The characters and enemies are so perfectly shaded and I just love the look of the environment and the 3D/2D effect.

I'm really looking forward to this Mario game. I haven't enjoyed Mario since the original Black and White Gameboy and the Super Nintendo "Super Mario World".

I know many of you just love the N64 version or some particular one, but I just didn't like them enough to continue playing. I was playing Resident Evil or something.

Been going back and playing my GBA version of Yoshi's Island again (must get that score of 6,000 :P). That game is superb! News of a sequel has pretty much single-handedly made me instantly interested in the DS, out of absolutely nothing. Yoshi's Island 2 and Final Fantasy 3 are probably the two games I want the most right now. That's pretty random :)

You know whats odd? I bought Final Fantasy III for SNES back in the day (15 years ago it came out soon after the SNES release).

At E3 they claimed 'final fantasy 3 for DS, this time in 3D'. I thought ok, they are remaking FFIII from SNES, except in 3D. Granted, it was about 15 years ago, but this was the only FF game I liked, besides FFX. Anyhow, so I heard that 'FF3 was never before released in the US'. ??? Yes it was, I bought it.

So what is it I wonder, a remake, a mistake on the website, or a different FF3?

Well it doesn't really matter, I'm staying away from this game. I still remember my girlfriend telling me to get a life when I told her I stayed up all night playing it. ;(

Ahhh... you've been duped by the age old FF numbering fiasco

edit: for the record, they're remaking Final Fantasy 6 as well, but for the Gameboy Advance only. They're tweaking the graphics slightly as opposed to Final Fantasy 3's entirely overhaul.

I read a review of teh game by David Sirlin.
http://www.sirlin.net/archive/new-super-mario-brothers/

And if he is right about the save system, then that is just plainly unforgivable. It's a goddam handheld. A lot of people play it on busses, or work or school. You just need to save anywhere. Nintnedo claims it's about "fun", well fine a lot of it's games are fun, but this kind of dammed save system just plainly frustrates people.

^^^^

After reading that I actually didn't agree with 2 of his gripes. First being finding the secrets and stuff, I don't see how that should be a negative to the game, maybe for HIM the main goal is secrets, but not everybody. I don't see how that's any different then say, Kirby Canvas Curse with the 3 medals per level, or Wario Land with the gem pieces, etc. Then the part about falling down a cavern and dying...i mean..hello?? it's side scrolling mario! That's like saying "Man jumping on people is such a date mechanic"...whatever.

However the saving could be a problem I guess.

Geeze i'm getting a mario overload

Mario + Luigi 2
Yoshi Story 2
Super Paper Mario
Paper Mario
New Super Mario Brothers
Mario Kart DS
Mario + DK 2
Super Mario Galaxy

..... AHHHHH

THnx for that, the sleep thing cleared it up.
(edit: btw I see you left a comment, you might want to check more of his articles. I like them a lot and they have given me a new an better insight in games)
