Hi guys,

sorry for asking so many questions, but I really don't want to screw up. I have a Asus P4S800 Motherboards (http://www.ciao.co.uk/Productinformation/ASUS_P4S800__5346820) and want to upgrade it to a 1GB stick.
This is the one that was recomended to me: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1455187&CatId=1825.

Now, my motherboard is not top of the line, so I want to know if I'm wasting money on nothing.

PS: I plan to upgrage to a new motherboard within a year. What I want to know is if this investetment will give me any extra performance right now (right now I have 2X512 at PC2700).

Thanks.

that ram is overkill for your rig ...even if you had a new rig it'd be overkill unless you wanted to overclock ..still really expensive ..tiger direct is usually more expensive ..it's cheaper here

get ocz premier ram or corsair value ram for good reliable ram

Good ram. Depends on how much money you have i.e. whether you can justify the money on that ram. It runs at low latencies so would provide a performance increase over your old ram, and would probably allow some overclocking headroom as well. But as CptStern says, you can get decent ram for a fair deal less.
