After years of laughing at people with their 'blogs' and RSS feeds and whatnot, I've finally succumbed to this foul disease myself.

So here it is.

One reason I hate blogs is the genuinely horrible design and implementation. So instead of depending on someone else's bad programming, I decided to depend on my own - and wrote my own blog software.

It took a whole afternoon.

But it's still got a MySQL back-end, an RSS feed, rich formatting (not based on HTML, but outputs XHTML and is easily extensible and should be XSS-safe), a nice create/edit/delete interface behind the scenes, and the beginnings (currently disabled) of a comments system, archives and a multi-page doodah for reaching older posts.

Oh, and it's entirely templates-based, so logic is completely separated from presentation. Thus big nerd bonus points for me.

Since it's a bit easier to update than the last news system, expect it to be updated more frequently. As an incentive to visit, there are loads of nice links for the latest news post - including a copy of the interview from the February edition of CGW magazine, and a link to the 1UP Mod Summit. In which I might appear... ;-)

Excellent read. I hope you stay more faithful to your far more interesting blog than I did to my really crappy boring blog.

poor adam -next he'll start a bebo or myspace account
it's a slippery slope I tell's ya :P

Soon, there'll be emo pictures of him going round the internet :p

I wish I was more technically minded: but that was enlightening :D Can't usually stand blogs, either, so high praise indeed :P

Oh my. Stalkers, and not of the Combine variety!

(It's a very old photo, anyway. I've got a different camera now, for a start...)
