Hi, i know this is probably a typical n00b post but seeing as I can't find this information another way....

Is it worth buying half-life 2 with a reasonably low-spec system, i have abut 256MB ram, i think the processor is about 3.2Ghz, but the graphics card is the sort you get when you buy the pc in a package deal, ie. shit. Although I seem to be above the minimum specs, I dunno if the game will play at all well, what do you think

Hope this post hasn't been too annoying.

My system surpasses the recommended specs, yay!
Although my video card is also le shit. It's DirectX 9 'capable'.
128mb GeForce MX4000. =\
It's supposed to better than the 440, hmm. It's still shitty.

i have 1GB RAM, 120 GB HDD, 2 GHz CPU, and a GeForce FX5200 128 MB...

i'm getting a new motherboard to support VGA 8X, so i can take full advantage of the Sapphire X800 PRO 256 MB i ordered... and also, once i have that motherboard, i can get 3 GB RAM! :flame:

anyways, i can't play HL2 with enjoyable settings (full details running smoothly) as it is, even though it will probably run...

i think developers should base the ''minimum requiements'' on the requirements you would need for it to run enjoyably and painless... then the reccomended specs would be the ones that would make it orgasmic :P

because if you have the exact same gear listed in the minimum requirements of any game, it would suck and run as smoothly as a cheese grater over a knee... so yup!

I actually bought a new puter for the sept. 30th release last year. But seeing as that never happened i've upgraded it a bit, so now im ready to play :)

some more ram (£20-£30)
definatly new graphics card

ive spent £1200 on my purpose built shrine to halflife 2.

i`m even considering getting divorced, as she`ll only get in the way.

after al this, something will go wrong, the pc blows up / some component or other will die, saddam will escape and invade the uk.....................i just no it :(

I'll sort out the RAM and think about the Graphics card, but as I'm a student it'll have to be done on a budget! Next option is to play on a mates pc! or get the game on xbox!

Please, GOD NO!!!! No HL2 on XBox!! I almost guarantee that your existing setup can outdo anything the X-bag can do, and you wont have to play HL2 with some crappy controller :frown:
