You meet up with him again with Barney although the reunion is short lived because he gets you into the Citadel but then leaves with Barney and other resistance fighters to continue the battle on the street while you go solo through the Citadel.

There wasn't enough dog in hl2. Someone should make a mod where you fight along side him.
