MOD installation

Can I install MODs one my free version of HL1, which I've downloaded via steam. Or do I have to dust of my old HL1 CD and install it that way?

The mod is UnderWorld

Well you can, but you'll have to find servers using an external server browser, and there may be incompatibility problems etc. etc. etc.

K, Load Half-Life on Steam at least once, then close down Steam, then install your mod into the Steam\Steamcache\half-life folder. Then restart Steam and the mod should appear under "Third Party Games" in the Games list.
