Mods on steam?

Hi,

I'm new to mods. Can anyone tell me if Steam is the way to get new mods for HL2?
Also I was told there is something like mod pages on steam - did anyone hear about it? is it info pages about mods?

Click here for a list of Released or Public Beta mods for Half-Life 2. Pick a mod you like the sound of and follow the download instructions. You don't download them through Steam, but you will need Steam running to play them.

if I download a mod, can i then go back to playing the original game?

Of course! When you install a mod, it shows up in your "My Games" list. You can then select to play the mod or Half-Life 2 or anything else for that matter.

Thanks! but what about mods that are not d/l through Steam (like Iron Grip that I'm interested in, for example)? when it comes out, if not through steam, will i also be able to painlessly revert to the original game?

Alright...

ANY mod you download and put into the mods folder will be playable VIA steam.

these mods DO NOT overwrite ANY GAME INFORMATION. I have 40 mods downloaded, and I can switch between them, and the official games.

So dont worry about anything being overwritten; as long as you put it into the right folder, then everything should be fine.
