for the theory that the resistance hired the G-man to bring Gordon to smite the combine

I noticed something that I havent seen on any other posts so I'll throw it out there. Right after you get the bugbait and the vortigon is telling you how to use it, the vortigon says:
"The Eli Vance has greatest confidence in you"

Eli had been captured before you had been planning on going to the coast and the only reason you are in fact there is to rescue him. So how did the vortigon recieve a message from Eli that gordon was coming and he was confident in his abilities?

The best explination as to why the whole rebel force knows who you are without any need of introduction and why Eli is so confident of gordon so early in the game is because they had all been part of or had heard the decision to bring gordon to come and help them.

Another possible explination is that Eli simply broadcast a message when he found out Gordon was coming, and based on his previous experience with Gordon from HL1 proclaimed his confidence to everybody that Gordon would solve their probelem.
But this explination makes the resistance seem very weak to push all their troubles on to one man who was just there by some stroke of their luck...

Well, once Eli knew Gordon was in City 17, I'm sure he started telling stories about Black Mesa and the great Gordon Freeman. And, since we know there are Vorts in Eli's lab, and we know that the Vorts share a consciousness...what one Vort hears, ALL Vorts hear.

oh gotcha
I didnt know Vorts were telepathic over long distances

It was just weird the way he said it and sent you off. It was like he was saying "Eli vance has great confidence that you can destroy these aliens for us" And they dont seem like the kind of guys who would just repeat what they observed when they "heard stories". It seems like it had more weight to it.

I donno go back and play that part to see what I mean.
