What do you reckon it is?

Pesronally, I vote for "Water Hazard," which doesn't seem to be anyone's favourite level (nor is it mine, in fact). Detractors usually offer the vague criticism that HL2's vehicle segments are weak and lack variety, but "Water Hazard" includes a number of inventive puzzles and has some bracing arcade-style action in the form of the chopper chase.

route canal and water hazard seem equal to me imo but thats basically what gets you into the fighting in hl2.

Urban Flight. I love the gameplay in it, but there's a lot of people saying EP1 goes downward after chapter 2.

I liked the hospital, but a lot of what preceded it had a very recycled feel, IMO. Incidentally, I thought Lowlife very good. Not quite on par with the first two chapters, but what is?

I liked everything before the Grav Gun a whooole lot, because I originally thought HL2 would be centered around that weapon. I was quite glad it wasn't.

Yeah, as much as I appreciated the grav gun as a gameply innovation, I found that puzzle solving became increasingly grav-gun dominated after it had been introduced. I like the puzzles in "Route Canal" and "Water Hazard." Moving stuff around to gain access to new areas is just more interesting than building yet another makeshift bridge to cross a hazardous surface or blasting yet another plug out of its socket. I kind of felt like the grav gun didn't come into its own as a puzzle-solving tool until "Direct Intervention." The last puzzle in that level is sound.
