Well, I get that error message when trying to start the SDK now. Started today just a few hours ago and I have no idea how to fix it?

Ditto- Worked last night, not now. (Cept mine says "206" and not "208".) It failed with error 116, and cache needs repair.

Is it working after reinstalling those parts/cache files?

We will soon find out, I'm installing the complete SDK again (third time...)

EDIT: Does't work, I guess I have to manually delete the cache files, but where are they?

How would I go about doing that? Tell it to update itself?
[EDIT] -- *looks at post above him* Apparently so.

deleting the cache files will force it to reinstall/download them, just wipe all the SDK stuff (uninstall through steam) and remove whats left over and it should then get it all back.

Well, now I deleted the sourcesdk.gcf and the sourcesdk folder, installing it again, now completley from scratch. If this doesn't work I'll kill myself... Or go eat lunch, haven't really decided yet.

Good idea, altough I cleened out the fridge yesterday so everything I got home is fresh. Well, another time maybe. =) Altough I doubt I would die of bad food, I would probably just get a bad case of 'the runs' =)

EDIT: Anyway, the damn thing still doesn't work. But it took like 2 seconds to download the 220 mb cache file and that can't really work.

I don't even what to know what problems YOU have. =)

If I choose "delete local game content" from the SDK, will I loose my maps?

maybe/maybe not. Best back them up first, just copy them elsewhere away from Steam just incase. It's best to do that anyway then just completely delete whatever steam leaves behind, incase there's a problem with some config file, best to start afresh.

Well I'll be back in about a half our when this thing finishes updating. Good luck to you, Eiric. *whistles to himself as HE goes off to eat lunch* Later...

Well, when I want to delete all content nothing happens at all, I just can't acess the SDK trough steam anymore, but all the files remain in the SDKfolder.... Nicely done valve.

well course you can't access the SDK through steam, you've deleted it, you need to then reinstall it, redownload it. restart steam and let it get its barings then get it reinstalled again.

Yea but I can still go to the sourcesdk folder in my steamapps and start the programs. Well, I could have started them if I didn't have the other problem mountfile blah...

All files stay after I have deleted the "local content" trough steam...

Ditto. So I deleted it. Almost re-downloaded it -again-. lol. Now how am I supposed to watch my AI -not- use the doors when I can't access Hammer ;) (Or test the trigger thing for that matter.)
---
Well while I sit here and wait- let me reflect on how I wasted an hour yesterday building the most complex door I have ever seen. (Inspired by some of the doors from HL1 durring the train/tram ride.) "door_01" - "door_11" along with func_brushes named "door_x1" - "door_x4". All tied to "button4" (and "button5" in the room the door connects to.) So the two bottom pieces slide aside, as with the top two. Then the middle sides slide away. Then behind that, four other pieces do the same (just start a moment or two later) and finally, a huge arm slides the center piece back, and tips it down. Then the whole process runs in reverse when it closes. There was probably an easier way to do this, but oh well. It was fun. :D Okay, that took the time I needed for SDK to download. Sorry for the off-topicness.

Nope. Didn't help. VALVE?! *sighs* Guess I'm waiting for an update.

Actually, I just started HL2DM and got some verification message up, took a while but when it was done I quit HL2DM and started the SDK without a problem.

WOOT! I can now return to fiddling with doors and ladders (*shudders*)! Yay Valve! :D

umm im getting this same error (208) and im not quite sure what you guys did to fix it, any help?

cant do that. i tried to run half life but it was stuck at 0% updating so i uninstalled, but when i try to reinstall it says that steam servers are too busy:(
