Is it possible, taking into account Valve's screechy, long-winded privacy/protection policy, and it's instant nuking of any accounts suspected of piracy...

to install the same HL2 on two different computers?

Because i just got a new computer and it's superior to my old one in all ways... except for a lack of HL2.

Yeah, it should work, but people have been reporting problems getting it to work correctly. You can't have both computers in 'online mode' at the same time, one of them has to be in offline mode (I think). I don't think Vavle cares if you use the same cd-key to install HL2 on a few computers, but if it ends up on 100 computers they'll notice and ban the cd-key.

Don't think you will have any trouble. Just install it and enter your steam account info.
I think they only ban accounts associated with false credit card details and CD-keys that are consistently used across multiple accounts.
Just use your normal steam account, it'll be fine.

A long time ago Valve said you could use steam to play HL2 at an internet bar or any computer, using your account.
