Must HL2 be installed to use all textures in Hammer?

I've been working on a Counter-Strike: Source map for about a week now.

It seems odd to me that there are no just plain, clear glass textures.
Also, the available glass textures skip numbers, as in from "glass_window11a" to "glass_window14a".

Is this because I only have Counter-Strike and not HL2 installed? I own the game, but have uninstalled it after beating it so as to save harddrive space.

Must I reinstall HL2 to get access to all the textures? Please help

If you want HL2 textures, yes. There is a clear glass texture in th hl2 files

Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know.

Another question: if I use textures from HL2, will others who have only CS:S installed be able to see the textures? Or must I somehow pack the HL2 textures used in my map along with the BSP?

All HL2 materials, sounds, and models are supposed to be shared across all Source games; that's what the source _____.gcf files are for. However, it's entirely possible not to have the full GCFs, because Steam doesn't consider downloading game content a priority unless the content is of immediate necessity to your continued game-playing.

I actually ran a test of this once. I put a HL2 sky in a CS:S map and uninstalled both games, so that I could download only what CS:S gives me, and the game crashed loading that map because the HL2 sky was not present. After about half an hour of letting Steam sit there, though, the map worked without HL2 being installed, presumably because I had given Steam time to download most of the shared content.

It is probably safe to assume that everyone already has all of the shared content--including you.
