My 3rd preload wont go....

Close steam, delete that file in your steam directory, open steam, then try resume the preload.

Yeah i have the same problem, it get a smaler box come up, then close, and back to the start (81%) what difference does the blob make, wont that delete my steam in game settings or something?

EDIT: possible the servers are STILL full?

could be, that happened with me on the 1st preload. It stopped at 70 something percent, and it wouldn't resume past that spot forever. I just canceled it, waited a couple days, started it, and it went. Be patient, it's not like the faster you preload, the faster you're going to be able to play the game ;)

I have a question: I have just started to dl the forst pre-load, will all pre-loads(1-3) be in that dl, or will i have to dl three times?

You will get all three in the one download.

sometimes when it doesn't resume just exit steam and try another time. It happend 2 times to me but it always resumed at a later time

what does deleting that .blob file do? and what else will i lose and a consequence of deleting it?

The servers are just busy. Wait your turn.

Deleting the file forces an update of steam, but you still aren't guaranteed to get the HL2 updates. (See above)

yeah Ahnteis is right. think of the amount of people...all over the world...preloading hl2 at the same time. the servers must be going ****ing mad atm.

Know what sucks for the guys getting the game through Steam? If your harddrive craps out, or you have to format from getting a virus, you have a hell of alot of downloading to do.

If I buy it in the store, the install will probably take 10 - 15 minutes at most, then BAM I'm back in the game. :p

Well, before I even play the game, I plan the burn all the GCF's to DVD, so let's see, at an average copying rate of 16X (20MBytes/s), I suppose I would be back in the game in about 3 min! yumm. Though, let's not forget you would have to reinstall Windows first ;)
