I haven't had this camera for more than a monthish time, but for some reason, I can't get it to connect to ANY computer to pull the videos off. Here's the story.

I was extracting all the videos I recorded on it off using regular old windows way..open the camera up, drag to desktop. Well, my computer started locking up, and I just walked away, because it looked like the camera was still working. I come back, and my computer was sitting at the "LOG IN" screen. Well, no I can't get my camera to load up on any computer, and when I'm usually allowed to copy files over, my camera doesn't respond. I'm confused.

I've tried reinstalling all my USB drivers, but that hasn't helped none. I even installed the CD that came with the camera for S&Gs, and nothing!

*EDIT* Just tried another memory stick, and same problem. Apparently it's my camera. YAY FOR THAT?

this should be in the hardware section. whats the make and model of the camera ? seems like you've covered all the bases (reinstalling drivers , software etc.) you should contact TECH SUPPORT and ask them.

Cannon PowerShot A630

I have contacted tech support, but for some fkn reason, I chose the A610 as the model. good thing they are virtually the same thing. We'll see what they have to say. And if it's really so bloody important for you to critique that this needs to be in another forum, go nuts. People say that as if the mod won't have any idea where it belongs unless someone points it out.

Is it under warrenty?

Should be, I bought it December 19th, but probably the weirdest thing happened. I got ahold of tech support on the phone somehow. We started going through the usual settings to get it to work, but the guy was boggled why it wasn't working! He started to run out of ideas, so I decided to unplug the keyboard I'm using and plug it into there *I've already tried different USB ports, on a seperate computer none the less....anyway, I plug it into the keyboard slot, it works. I plug keyboard back in, and the camera is working just like it used to.

Wait... what?

You plug it into the keyboard's usb... then it works... and now it works in any usb?

Also, just get a card reader... that way you dont need to mess with the camera or any wires.

That's a big plan of mine, but I really don't feel like opening the battery hole to get the stick everytime. I'm so lazy. But now my Cannon software isn't working so >_<
