Drove a nascar on lowes motor speedway today, for 8 laps. Fastest I got was 145mph. Damn those things grip to the road, I can't imagine how much force it would take to knock them off. Each lap my speed increased, I think I might have to go do that again sometime. Had fun going fast and not getting a ticket this time.

Well sure it's more exciting for you because you're in the damn car.

But watching it? Uuggggh.

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

That's what a car sounds like.

I would have never known that... this dude is smart. ;)

I've always wanted to get inside one of those... But never drive... Scares the shit out of me...

how does one drive on lowes motor speedway and not be a nascar driver? because i would like to look into this

Dale Jarrett racing adventure. My mom got it for me for me birthday. :naughty:

What a great present, I need to meet your mother Disturbed...

How does the handling feel in those cars, I've always been curious. If you get that much grip I guess it makes everything else much that much easier?

Aww, does widdle disturbed wanna be a racecar driver when he grows up? :D

i prefer Formula 1 but sounds awesome anyway

But you see, nobody in their right mind would let some kid with no racing experience behind the wheel of a F1 car on an a FIA sanctioned F1 circuit. Kid would kill himself fo sho.

Honestly, it grips like nothing I've ever driven before. Feels so stable compared to every modded car I've ever driven/ridden in. They are pretty bad ass, going around those sharp inclines you need it.

Actually you can. They have DD days where you get to drive an older F1 car. I'll try and get the company that does it, but if I recall it was like $3,000.

Well it is a purpose built race car, and you were driving it to maybe 75% of it's capacity. I mean they go 180mph pretty regularly, and that's not even at the limit yet; you were going like 145 so that's a fair guess.

Most "modified cars" are people who buy $750 ebay coilovers, set them as low as they'll go (because think they lower = better handling) and then get some toyo tires and think they now drive a champ car (slight exaggeration, but it's like 85% true).

It saddens me that these highly sterilized racing series like NASCAR and F1 get the most coverage and attention. I find WRC, JGTC, and ALMS so much more interesting.....when I can actualy find coverage.:dozey:

well the main problem americans seem to have with F1 is the lack of passing, which cuts down on 'excitement'. Also F1 cars are less likely to drive 3" apart from each other and take a turn 3-wide...which also cuts down on 'excitement'.

WRC is a problem because the competition is against a clock, not other drivers. Well it is against other drivers...sort of, but it's not direct. Again, there's no passing.

I've had the nascar/wrc/f1 argument with everybody (trust me, I live in alabama) and they {nascar fans} say the same thing about F1 as F1 fans say about nascar. "All they do is just drive in circles!"

People who like F1 get excited to watch a driver dive bombing somebody from the outside trying to pass through the corner, or watching two drivers play chicken to see who will brake first. People who like nascar get excited about watching somebody bump draft or...whatever.

edit: apparently the driving an F1 car deal was a special one-time thing with skip barber, and it was like 5 laps.

Nascar racing is overrated...and boring. Drag racings where it's at for me. :P BTW: Do any of you know that Nascar got started by bootleggers here in the U.S. during the 1920's escaping from the law with their souped up 1929 Dodges and Fords? Al Capone be damned. :)

Yeah, and like you, I learned it from Ricky Bobby.

NASCAR would be ten times sicker if the "stock" in "stock car racing" was actually true. I hope to god that when the new Camaro and Challenger hot the market, Trans Am racing is revived.
