need a thread for hl² optimisations

i found the cfg file located on the following folder:"\SteamApps\XxX\half-life 2\hl2\cfg"
i'm sure there's a lot of stuff we can change there just like doom 3 , if someone advised could help the Hl community to improve their framerate it would be lovely

I dont know if this would work in HL2, but in CS: Source it made the game run smooth as butter when compared to without it....

in console try:

mat_bumpmaps 0
mat_specular 0

It may turn off some reflections or whatever, but you can always revert it back to the defaults by changing the 0's to 1........or it may revert itself when restarted.

Test it out though! I'm at school right now so I cant.
