need help with my comp

Whenever I try to play any graphics intensive game my computer goes on the fritz. It will be extremely laggy and the controls will take a while to respond. So far this has happened in AA, RTCW, Planetside, CS, and a little bit in HL and Opfor. I have 28.3 GB left on my c drive, i have recently (yesterday) defragged my hard drive, and i shut down any background programs. My computer is fairly new (a Compaq Presario Series 5000) with 512 MB Total system memory, 80 GB hard drive, and a GeForce 2 MX Graphics card. Any advice ("other than get a new computer") would be greatly appreciated.

Well you could format the whole thing, but i think the problem is just your graphics card. MX = weak.

Oh yeah and whats your CPU speed?

Do you know if that geforce 2 is on-board? If you don't know, locate the computers serial number and post it here, I'll look it up for you. What settings do you play on? If you've maxed everything (or even in some of those games halved everything) the graphics settings could easily explain the lag.
