hello.

i have taken into consideration in these forums that few pple have considered the fact about new enemies in Ep2 or maybe the mysterious Ep3?

mortar synths?

that other thingy in teh citadel?

city 17 after the explosion?

new kind of combine troopz?

all possibilities, but nevertheless accounted fo in meh thread.

now that u no all about me and my (probably considered crazy theories) theories is that they r sumthing 2 think about during this long wait fo fall...

G-Man is teh lollerz,
McCoy

Word. That other thing in the Citadel was pretty crazy.

Combine Assassins, sans the white suit and Elite helmet.

Mortar synth, Crab synth, battle with an Advisor.

An Antlion Queen has been mentioned in one of the interviews...

yer the antlion baby i fergot its name lol cant attack apperently so realy cant count em but we will soon find out.

there not babys as such, more just little ones.....

battle with an advisor would be good, gona blow his ass off!!!

yeh there bugs so it would be

must have assassin, too cool not to have it. i can say this straight, Valve will be Stupid not to have the Assassin within these 3 episodes..

yer but hl1 is old but still one ov the best but imagen the assaisin wiv gd A.I graphics and everyting would be mazing. but it wasnt the combine in hl1 dat was the army fighting you not the combine dey came after black mesa when u was in dat sleep.

I would deeply be surprised if the houndeyes don't make an appearance, I would expect they would live in dank caves and have a natural ability to fend of antlions with their sonic attack. Its a shame they haven't been mentioned as a possible enemy.

... I never thought of that!

Maybe the houndeyes came from the antlion world, and use their sonic to scare off the antlions! it'd be like thumpers. That'd be awesome. Guessing that the sheer force of the attack, the antlions would probably expload. The antlions seem vary fragile, so maybe that's why they're afraid of seismic activity. :D

That'd make good fun watching houndeyes fight off hordes of antlions. :)

I wonder if any Tentacles are left. THAT would be a blast from the past! Bullsquids could still be around too. I remember reading in some preview a long time ago that there would be Combine soldiers with different colored uniforms, but I could be wrong.

Green camouflage would certainly be rather appropriate in the upcoming forest setting.

Word. I'd post that picture from Raising the Bar, but it's against the rules.

I want to fight a cloaking Elite, damn it.

Think about it... you're driving along... decide to get out for a quick-crate pickup. Then you're wondering why the air is so hazy and ZOMG COMBINE AMBUSH THEY'RE ALL AROUND ME!

Awesome.

Bullsquids and houndeyes, hell yeah. Xen fauna pwns all.
Assassins are fun to fight, they make a change from killing fat guys who charge at you down corridors.

Antlion workers sound pretty cool, but... these ones can spit venom at you that lowers your health to 15 or something, can't they? They sound a lot more dangerous than normal antlions, yet they're called "workers". What is this naming travesty??

Oh yeah, hunters FTW.

I would love to see assassins, and with that could be the combine sniper rifles, that Gordon could use.

Well the workers would be charged with keeping the hive safe, so I don't think so. :)

I was under the impression that workers were fairly similar to the regular antlions (at least in terms of size and toughness), but had a fairly fast and powerful acid attack. I don't remember anything about it specifically lowering your health to 15... In any case, they were a relative side note in the few recent articles I've seen.

It seems fairly obvious that we'll be coming up close to another pod in the near future. Of course, it's still not entirely clear what their attack is. Disorienting, certainly, but it had no lasting effect in Ep1.

Considering we're leaving the city 'safe zone', it seems like as good a place as any to reintroduce more of the ol' Xen fauna. I would wonder if any of them would be deserving of some slight changes as well. We got poison and fast zombies, after all. It would make sense that other surviving species would have their own adaptations as well.

Bullsquid are "still here somewhere" according to Laidlaw.

But seriously some HL1 enemies need to make return.

I want new stuff, not the old ones. I like Bullsquids and all, but meh, I'd much prefer new creatures being brought into the fold. Old stuff doesn't interest me that much. I'm not saying I wouldn't like Bullsquids and Houndeyes, but there's no way they are needed.

I think that not reintroducing them at some point would put major holes in the story. How were the tiny headcrabs that can only take 2 pistol shots able to outlive the bullsquids that take 2 shotgun shots? :/

Where do you work that one out? Outlive them? That's not a plothole (and how would that be major?) at all. Headcrabs are within the outskirts of the City because they are being used by the Combine to destroy rebel outposts. You have seen a small portion of a very large world. I hardly expect Bullsquids would be roaming so near to a Combine controlled City; they'd be far, far out in the wasteland - probably over sea's.

yeah? Well that was a major plot hole in my head, so you do the math!

if any... :(

thats very bad logic
other than the fact that just because you dont see them doesnt mean they don't survive
how did insects who would only take 1 pistol shot to kill outlive the dinosaurs who would surely take several rockets to take down?

You can kill any dinosaur withe ONE rocket...

Am I the only one who thinks assassins would be a rubbish idea? The open terrain pro, ised in Ep2 is totally different to the cramped coridoors and rooms they trapped us in in BMRF.
Their place is not here.

Valve are good at having a degree of logic to their game world, which is why bullsquids didn't make it into HL2, but being in the countryside where these creatures could have survived means that re-introducing them certainly makes sense.

Although I do get the feeling that, if they were going to make a come-back, previews would have at least hinted at it.

I don't want to see new stuff if it's simply for the sake of having new stuff. If there are new enemies, there'd better be a sensible reason for them being there.

Nope, I'm with ya.

I don't disagree. Valve aren't ones to pump pointless additions of enemies into their game-world.
