New Enemies&New Places

Am I the only one who thinks assassins would be a rubbish idea?
Nope, I'm with ya.
*hi-5 gUYz!*

I also think the assassin idea stinks. That kind of individualistic enemy doesn't fit with the idea of the Combine's lobotomised, centrally directed army of pseudo-drones either, to my mind. Twas good in HL1, but if Valve chuck in another deadly-sexy-woman-in-tight-suit type of enemy, then out of protest I will refuse to zoom in on their boobs like I normally do.

for god sake it does not stink! placed in the right place in the right setting it will be good. such as alone in an old large barn or shack, and they ambush you only from within. or perhaps they are guarding something.. and also have the ability to turn invisible..

Assasins would be especially stupid, because the hunters are designed for that purpose, and in my opinion they are much cooler...

I think the assassins could work if they were placed in a very heavily forested area, and their AI was scripted to pop out from behind trees and shoot at the player, and then hide behind them, like Mel Gibson in The Patriot (shitty movie, BTW).

Otherwise, the assassins would be out of place in the wide open spaces we're going to see in Episode Two.

Point taken.
It would still be fun to see them some time in the future though, maybe ep3... even if they're not hot women in tight suits, just something with that AI would be enough.

I think the most appropriate place should have been the Overwatch Nexus, or some other Combine facility.
Maybe that building with the adviser pod that we see in the trailer?

Assasins&Stuff

i think that the assasin would be an ok idea as long as the assasin is made unique, made cool by valve. if the assasin does come back, you can expect it to have an integral part in the story, and constantly trying to physically dismiss you. if there was an assasin i would think it would be hired by an advisor or possibly the Gman. the assasin is a NPC we fondly remember (or not fondly in el chi's case), but can be providing some backstory to the half life episodes. who knows, maybe even the rebels mite hire her.

(and i don't work for valve)

McCoy

;)

I don't get why an assasin would have to be hired if it's already a combine assassin then it's already hired by the Combine unless your talking about the hl 1 assassin although I don't think that they are around anymore.

I think the Hunters already fit that perfectly. I read that they were sent specifically to kill Gordon and Alyx.

Id like to see:
- City 17 after the blast (no, i havent get bored to C17)
- More outdoor enviroments, countryside, railways, ruins, all the post-apocalyptic landscapes.
- New enemies, hunter is aok, but more Xen wildlife.
- Citizen Safezone
- "The North Project"
- Combine wasteland bases or supply depots
- The Bridge too far ;)

Things I dont want to see
- Antilion nest, sigh, think about it: dark small cave with boring bugs and the danger to fall down. Must be annoying place...
- Indoor facilities and labs. We all have been in the Citadel twice and once in Nova Prospect. Who wants to see more clean and boring indoor places when we have change to enjoy great outdoor views. If you want to enjoy million times seen labs and facilities, you can always play doom.

Well too bad because it's been confirmed that in ep2 you will be going to the antlion nest and I'm sure it wouldn't be that boring considering the fact that we will be learning more about their ecosystem and lifecycle as we move through the tunnels.
No doom had a lot of repetitive levels and in half life each and every level is unique save of course the citadel but we won't be going back in there it's destroyed for good so don't worry about that.

my, imagine if they actually have a part in ep2, where you do have to blow up the nest to continue with your mission. that would be cool.

Seeing the Tentacle again would be a real treat, but perhaps with variations like the headcrabs. Same with bullsquids and houndeyes (and maybe those finicky lantern things, man I loved those). It would make sense for them to be in the wilderness where the Combine wouldn't really care. It would also be sweet to see Alyx's reaction to any of them, since she was probably to young to remember them at Black Mesa.

It would be nice to see some old faces as well as new, just as long as they fit into the storyline. Valve has proved time and time again that they know what they're doing, so I'm not worried.
