New way of games advertising-no more warez

Ok...I allready post similar thing in one other thread.
Im not sure if I used right forum for this thread. If not, sorry.

But, you all know there are lots of warez version of HL2 and every other game. Its wrong couse you should pay developers their product so they could make another one later. Ok, thats the 100 % truth.

But , since there is no (I think) game on market that dont support multiyplayer playing, and we all like more to play online than in single mode.....there could be a invention of new way to advertise games and in the same time cut the pirate industry.
How?
Maybe developers could make their games free for download...BUT ONLY FOR SINGLE PLAYER MODE.

Lots of fans would get it and play it, and than they would like to play online.
NOW...since you are adict and you wanna play, you will buy CD/DVD that enable you to play in multyplayer mode.

Valve have great control over illegal Keys....same thing could make other companies too.

Its just a one step forward, me think.

If not....its an idea.

Couse, there are lots of ppl that like playing lots of games at the same time. If they would bought every one as original they could go to bancrot. With this free download (But only for single mode) they could explore lot more games and possible pay for more than they are paying now

*waiting and hoping no one will come with that Free DEMO :hmph: *

The problem is, if there is any sort of media that enables the player to access content that isn't otherwise available, it can be hacked.

There are some companies that create enormous products and offer them for free - but for the company to survive, it has to generate revenue at some point. Valve has only published two full titles to date, and like Pixar, the gap between releases is above the industry average, so I can't see it being a profitable enterprise if they released a large portion of their next creation for free.

The vast majority of the game sales market comes from people who never, ever play online.

Single-player sells games.

I thought so....But, mostly every one that bought original went to play online...right?. I think.
Lots of ppl also got pirate versions....but its lot harder (certinaly complicated) to play online without original Key.

If companies would go and sell only key numbers....at the same time they dont have to make costs of making CD/DvDs (wich could be download for free)....Who knows how the final bilance would be

Yes...NOW...in future no...IMHO
EDIT: Well, its just rough idea trying to solve pirate problem a bit and at the same time able those games explorers to....well, Explore...lol

Yes, compare the number of sales for The Sims compared to The Sims Online. At least (being on the low side) 7,000,000 copies of The Sims, whereas The Sims Online has roughly 50-70,000 players.

Perhaps that's because people don't like paying for subscription games, or maybe The Sims Online just completely sucks. But if you look at EQ, the king of MMORPG, the highest number of subscribers it ever had was 460,000. So if you look at that, perhaps they sold maybe 600,000-700,000 shop units in total - still nowhere near SP games like The Sims or Diablo 2 (yes, a lot of people play it online...).

This is a bad bad idea.

A bad bad bad idea.

Multiplayer and Singleplayer rarely have anything to do with each other and the latter is definitely the biggest reason to buy most games. You can't just give that stuff away for free these days, that's what demos are for...
