I want some more weapons in HL2 Deathmatch so I made a list of weapons and items. Some of these are stupid and may seem stupid so don't criticize me. Also post your own weapon and item ideas here.

Hoppers- Activate the same way as in Half-Life 2. If one explodes, it reappears where it is supposed to be in 30 seconds.

FORCE- An advanced version of SLAM creates a very big explosion, and stay as far away from it as possible. Carry only two. Reappear at location every one and a half minutes.

Gauss Rifle- Shoots the same way as the buggy except weaker.

Flamethrower- Shoots fire, is pretty effective, and is a close range weapon.

Sniper Rifle- A far range weapon, perfect for landing headshots.

BM (Barnacle Mutator) - Shoot at ceiling to create a barnacle. Create traps and you can shoot at foe while he is stuck. Takes 10 seconds to morph. The bad thing is that it can also try to eat you so be careful. 3 ammo max.

Fire Suit- When you get this you will not suffer as much damage from fire.

Med Case- Gives 50 health.

Adrenaline Pill- Grab 15 of these and sprint longer and faster. Runs out in 30 seconds.

GLOB- Shoot at opponent to slow him down.

Parasite- Shoot at opponent and that will drain his health. Find some Parasite Poison to get it out of you.

Parasite Poison- Kills the parasite.

Acid Gun- Shoots acid at your opponent.
 
No more weapons, please. Half-Life 2: Deathmatch has enough weapons as it is. Though the Flamethrower would make as a nice addition, because Half-Life 2 needs more FIRE! :)
 
DM could use some more weapons, but all we really need now are hoppers and deployable manhacks. :P
 
No you fools, all it needs is snarks, then it shall be perfect.
 
Sorry, but manhacks don't hold a candle up to the glory that is snarks.

As long as mappers can responsibly not try to cram every weapon into each map we should have as many as possible.


We need hopwires!!!

And guard guns!!!

Manhacks > snarks in HL2DM, I reckon. Although they'd need to be stronger than the single player versions (ie, can't pick them up with the grav gun and can't instant kill them with the grav gun by shooting) and they'd be excellent. Self-destruct after some time, much like snarks did.

But as for the rest of your suggestions - go play UT, most of it's already in there.
 
i like the deployable strong manhacks 4 the combine and for rebels...........emp guns (alyx's door opener)
 
Deployable manhacks would rule :O and that Barnacle Mutator sounds fcking cool, one of the funnest parts of HL2DM is setting up very complicated traps for the enemy. Although it'd be very hard to make it believable (gun that shoots thingies that latch into the ceiling) but I dunno, something like the bugbait or so?
 
i'd like a sort of freeze gun to freeze players in ice or create obstacles of ice like mr. freeze a la batman. then when frozen, bust out the pistol, shoot, and watch them shatter. would be a cool death animation. :cheers:

I thought about that and how would it kill you exactly? does it lower your health or do you have a body heat bar somewhere on your screen. it would make sense if it didn't excactly freeze, but shot out shards of ice. also whats a snark? is it like a mine you put under floorboards or somehting?
 
I like the Idea of sprint boxes for the suit. I would really like the flame thrower, but I think a weapon in-between the pistol and the magnum would be great.

Oh yeah, that's a real good description... And what exactly are we shooting at our opponent? Definatly not the HL style.

If HL2DM is to have more guns, it should be variations of the existing ones. For example, smg with silencer! Bam, that's a new weapon, and it's cool!
 
Forget about new weapons just rework the old ones or add one from HL.

The Magnum needs the scope back on it, it used to have a 2X zoom in HL.
The rocket launchers red dot, needs an off switch.

Keep the Guass gun away from HL2, it would ruin it, That gun was GOD in HL, if you knew how to use it, it would go through several walls, and you'd die without even seeing the person who killed you, Not to mention the people using it to like a pogostick to jump around the map, killing as they went.

And for heavens sake, put the satchel charges back in!

Sliding one of those "babies" into a group of enemies, then setting it off, was one of HL's greatests moments.
The SLAM just does'nt work the same, it drops to the floor and does'nt slide along it like a satchel charge did/would.

Ok! So it vaguely imitates a satchel charge, As in press the second mouse button, wait a second, Er! Press it again, Great it goes off! Er! your dead! cos the guy/girl your trying to blow up, is bashing your head in with a crowbar/stunstick,etc!

It needs reworking, The original satchel charges went off as soon as you pressed the button to detonate, these SLAM have an annoying delay, And don't you even assume, its my mouse, cos its not!

Personally, they look good, But they suck!
The only fun thing, is throwing them above people (using grav gun) and setting them off, mid air, a good blast to the head, HA! Death from above!
 
^disagree. slams are really useful especially in really crowded games. plant them low in corners and people usually trip over them. plus, if you die you're planted slams persist in the game which makes it all the more better. and if you want to blow up a group directly its better to learn how to use the nade. also the rocket launcher does not need an off switch IMO, its already a campers wep and seein gthe red dot is the only way to dodge it if u can.
 
remember HL1 DM when people would go to the spawn point for tripmines and make intracite(sp?) designs with the lasers and make HUGE explosions.........yeh i was always the guy that blew them up caz i wanted a cheap kill lol.
 
Hoppers:
this sounds like a really good idea.

FORCE:
sounds pretty useless, the slam is good enough, it would get confusing with the two of them.

Gauss Rifle:
this would make a good adition

Flamethrower:
i dont like the idea of flamethrowers, it dosnt suit the hl2 universe/ gameplay

Sniper Rifle:
people allready complain about the crossbows and magnums instant-killing-ways, i doubt we need another one.

BM (Barnacle Mutator):
maybe not have it as a weapon, but have them in the level, sort of like the hoppers (would be great for a canal map)

Fire Suit:
pretty pointless

Med Case- Gives 50 health:
maybe... i like the simpleness of only having one medpack

Adrenaline Pill:
i dont think powerups fit in.

dosnt fit the hl2 universe/gameplay

and, how bout giving the combines manhacks, and resistance snarks? much like the crowbar and stunstick. they would be balanced ofcourse.

Completely agree. You try and throw a slam and it sort of bounces up and down on the floor stupidly, doesn't slide along or go very far like they did in HL1, and then when you furiously right-click to detonate it (so the person you just threw it at dies), it takes 1 seconds before Gordon's hands get into the right position and even once they're there you have to wait for 1 second before you can do it for some unknown reason, by which time it's too late to kill the person with it. In HL1 there was a 1/4-1/2 second delay before you could detonate them, which was much better.

Slam's work excellently as trip-mines, but as satchels they just suck hard. Especially because of the little red light they have that beeps on and off, not exactly easy to hide it in a dark corner with powerups for the unsuspecting next victim...

Also because they can be used as a trip-mine and a satchel, you can get REALLY crappy things happening. Like you go to plant one on a wall, but because of lag you don't actually manage to put it on the wall properly and instead the game drops one on the floor in front of you (satchel-mode). Now if you place a tripmine above it, you've got an interesting situation:
A) if someone does set off the tripmine, they're pretty much garunteed to die, because the satchel will also blow up
B) if you die before anyone sets off your tripmine, your satchel will blow up, destroying the tripmine in the process.
B is very annoying as it makes you feel like you've just wasted seconds planting a trap which likely won't work (especially if you're low on health).

Although one good thing about the satchels exploding when you die, is that if you have no other weapons or someone caught you un-awares while you were trying to set up a trip-mine trap, you can throw a satchel at them. Even if you don't have time to set it off before you die (because of that rediculous 2 second delay), when they kill you, your satchel will explode and kill them. I've used this once already, and it was very funny :P
