No 6.1 Speaker support?

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure which forum is best suited for this question, but here goes:

I just recently installed Half Life 2 and was surprised that it had an option to choose 5.1 and 7.1 speaker support, but not 6.1 speakers. Is there a way to enable 6.1 surround speaker support through the console or another way?

If there isn't a way to get HL2 to support 6.1 speakers, do you think my speakers would function better with HL2 set to output in 5.1 or 7.1? My speakers are shown in my signature.

Thanks for any replies!

Try putting this in the console: snd_restart

Ok, thanks, I'll give that a try and report back.

Ok, I tried it, but it still detected only 5.1 speakers connected. I think the problem may be within Windows because if I go to speakers through Control Panel, and then to advanced where it lets you pick what speakerss you have, it only has 5.1 and 7.1 as choices as well (besides headphones, stereo, 2 speakers, etc.). It doesn't have 6.1 speakers as an option in there either. Now my Creative software, or course, allows me to choose 6.1 speakers, but not Windows Control Panel.

Hmmmm, any ideas?

Maybe download an external program that is compatible with your speaker setup?
