Ennui said:a poison gonarch, ick.
how is a gonarch formed? does the headcrab eventually mutate the host body into a gonarch, or does it evolve into a gonarch seperate of the host?
Samon said:Every headcrab grows into a Gonarch - it's just very few make it to that stage.
Samon said:I don't believe the crabs remain on the host body for too long. It's more of a survival thing I'm sure, and a means of food I guess. Darkside is writing up a pretty freakin huge thing on the evolution of the headcrab...be sure to look out for it.

Reginald said:EDIT: I know a nice way we can remove them from the story without a continuity error. They need to be near Xen fauna. There. Problem solved. You encountered them after Black Mesa begins to get over-run by "bits" of Xen. As there is none of that in City 17, all is good.
A Big Fat CoW said:Or you can just say that they were mutations due to something at Black Mesa. Like heavy radiation or toxic waste mutated them or something like that.
Reginald said:Mutation from man-made things doesn't happen that fast. :hmph:
