what do you think, are we gonna get charged another bloody $$17.99 for one 6hr game and a bunch of other games we already own

It's 18 dollars for jesus christ. You can go outside and be a gay hooker and get 10x amount as that. Man, 18 dollars is awesome for a expansion like episode 1.

Valve are putting ALOT of work into these games.. If you were valve do you would make the price any lower? I thought not..

Wtf?! Why on God's Earth would they NOT charge!!? To be honest, I got EP1 for £12, and feel they undercharged me for it! (I pre-ordered)

Are you for real???

i agree, games are insanly expensive, being able to get a new game for 12 quid is amazing, its companies liek valve that realise wher ethe markets gogin, by doing the online content shindiggery, they can bypass publishers, they get the money for the games, whihc is alotmore than what te publisher would give them,

this allows them to chagre less, undercutting other games, gaining more business while driving other prices down

Steam Rocks!

There will be about 4 eps (as far as i know)
of about $20 (US)
thats $80 for 4 6 hour games
thats 24 hours all up (around about the same as HL2)

the price is good if you ask me.

After playing E1 I was highly satisfied. I would gladly pay another 17 dollars for the next installment. Sin Episodes, on the other hand, I was frankly, just dissapointed. Not buying future episodes for that. But HL2 episodes, definitly.

I would much rather pay $19.95 for a 6 hour game instead of a game around $60+.
Flame me, whatever, I don't care, but game prices nowadays (especially console games) are f*cking ridiculous.

How the hell can people complain about the price? Morons. 6 month gap, and 12 quid. I spend more than that when I go down to the town, or the pub. Seriously, shut up.

Oh, and if I see one more comment related to Gabe you will be banned.

I agree, it was a high price for such a short game. Thankfully, I'm rather rich at the moment...

I heard that ep2 was going to be about 2x as long as ep1 :/ 8-12 hrs as opposed to 4-6

Where's the "yes" option in the poll? I think they will (and should) charge us. Even with the engine and background story already in place , it's still, what, 6 months of work just to throw together an episode? New maps, voice acting, tweaking, bug fixes, etc. I was actually thinking that $20 was a pretty fair price.

Of course you would be charged. It's like what everyone else said, it's a business for Christ sake!

No because Valve runs on candy and fairy farts - oh wait, this is the real world. Just ask your mummy to get her credit card out or get a paper round.

Are you stupid? ****ing cheap people.

I voted i dont care for i dont care about this vote or i dont care or even think about such a thing as "price" They will and they SHOULD charge. Go Valve!

I don't see the problem with paying. It's not like we're getting a pathetic amount of content for the money, ala earlier Oblivion 'premium' modules. Twenty bucks for five extremely well polished chapters with far more character interaction then HL2? Yes please. Worth every penny to me.

Sure it might be a bit more expensive to those who use GBP or Euros, but it can't be that much more expensive, and you're still getting your money's worth unless you simply blast through the game and don't actually pause to pay attention to it.

So no, I don't think Valve is overcharging us. If anything, they're probably undercharging us. Though I, naturally, don't want them to raise the prices. :P

video games and PC hardware in general are expensive, especially in rip-off Britain, Steam content is relatively cheap by comparison

I don't see the woe that's caused by Half-Games(TM), I see it as a way for developers to get lazy by not requiring them to work on 'boring' travel-through level sections. Instead they can focus practically on set-piece moments which are often the most memorable parts of any game. A condensed game which only has the best parts included in it can be considered superior to a Full-Game(TM) which drags on and on from a certain point of view. Therefore I have no problems with any costs.

Case in point: Doom 3.
