I was walking through Wal-mart with a friend, and we were looking at the PS2 games because I was looking for Wild ARMs: Code Alter-F..and nothing, so off to the PC games...he said, "You know, I wanna try BF2 SF...."

"NO don't, it looks retarded, and just BF2 with a couple new things, not worth $30"
"But I'm getting bored of BF2...*picks it up..* You shoud buy it too Paul!"
"NOOO I can't resist Peer Pressure!! *Picks up too*"

I installed, and played with it a bit..HORRIBLE performance in comparison..I almost every turn I had was 2-3 seconds of freezing ETC ETC.

So far, worst game ever....can't believe I bought it..

STUPID ME

just get the unlocks and bin it
the booster packs sound good and cheap ($10) - get them instead :)

I got it for 20......

anyway, BF2:SF is a great game when your computer can actually run it. Its not smooth for me too, but a great game nevertheless. I love infantry maps.

I found this game enjoyable. Looking forward to the new booster packs too.
Just turn your settings down (if you can) and get on those night vision goggles :D

BF2: SF is really good IMHO; the new patch will try to fix the performance issues.

LOL fix your pc, I don't have those issues, I'll get hit with a few lag sessions once a minute, but thats about it. I only have 512mb of ram tho. :(

It plays pretty well for me- not as well as vanilla, but that's to be expected. Of course, I have 2 gigs of RAM...

Well if you have more ram than me, and a slightly faster video card, mine does it maybe once a minute and you have it every few seconds, tis must be your pc. It is teh suck, face it.

2.8 ghz
2 gig ram
x800GTO

the suck?

it plays BF2 on all high, yet I have to drop down every lighting/shadow/texture filtering to low/off and the top 4 options to high for me to have perfect performance?

no, not my computer, nice try though. Bad game. yes

Although this MAY sound stupid, but i think you have too much RAM for your processor and your computer is partitioning them stupidly. 1 GB of ram is generally more then enough for any system or application that exists.

Like I said, BF2 vanilla RUNS LIKE A DREAM..and I'm sure 2.8 ghz HT is fine with 2ghz..most P4s should be fine with it.

If BF2 = RUNS AWESOME at high graphix, why does the same game in a sense run s much WORSE?

Aye.
I believe you have a lil' to much ram to not have an even balance. Balance is good.
EDIT: Well, 2GB of ram is good for heavy imaging, and a few newer games (FEAR, Civ 4)

If the dev's didn't account for user's with 2 gigs of ram, then that's just ignorant bull****.

Yeah. I have 2 gigs of ram, an X800 XT PE, and an Athlon 64 3400+. Both Vanilla and SF play well on all high with 2x AA, but there is quite a difference.

I don't think you people seem to realize how the 2 gigs of ram issue works out.

It's when you have 2 gigs of ram in unequal configs that you get issues. That's why you have to be very careful when buying your ram. You can't skimp out and just get 4 512 sticks, cause you'll get latency issues between them all.

Adding another 1 gig stick to your system, not by the same manufacturer as your previous 1 gig stick, is the most common problem.

So if you buy a 2 gig dual channel kit, or two 1 gig dimm's that are exactly the same, then you should be fine.

But anything other, like

2 512's + 1 gig
4 512's
1 gig + 1 uneven gig

will give you slowdowns and stutters.

Now I would say that that was pitz's issue (cause I know for a fact that he was stupid and added a second 1 gig stick to his rig), BUT...

He says that BF2 V works just fine on all high, so I doubt that's the problem.

Both Corsair Value Pack. nice try though ;)

Same thing here. Don't go calling people out for mistakes they didn't make.

I'm sure that EA will patch this problem with the SF pack.

Lol.

I can see EA selling blatant updates in the future.

"Fix those annoying invisible walls in PoP for only 23 dollars!"
