At the end when you have to use the Magnusson devices to take down the Striders accompanied by the Hunters, how many striders do you have to take down? I wish I played this episode on Medium instead of Hard because this end battle is rough. I've only tried it a few times but I can tell it'll be difficult.

Has anyone found a good spot to camp out to do this part? Is it even possible to do without driving all over the map? The striders are simple, it's the damned hunters that escort in ever increasing numbers that are giving me trouble. I use 3 rockets on the first hunter, then I use 3-4 crossbow bolts on the second hunter, then I'm in scramble mode trying to find suitable weapons for them. Back by the sawmill they don't have many objects to throw at them, which is my preferred method to take them down.

Thanks.

There two simple ways of killing Hunters:
1) Drive over them with your car
2) Hit them with the bits of wood that's lying around al over the place.

Yea there are some treetrunks around, shoot Hunter twice with one and they should be down. After 4 throws they are surely dead.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep an eye out for tree trunks. Are there any supply depots that have combine balls? (LOL) How many Striders did you have to kill before it was all said and done? 5? 10?

Thanks.

edit: Also, sorry about the lack of spoiler tags. I guess I assumed that asking a question and using the words "Last Battle" in the thread title would be enough to prevent people that didn't want to spoil the last battle from venturing here. I was wrong, my bad.

Most of the shacks have one Combine ball per resupply.

I think there are around 10 striders. The hunters went down pretty easily to 2 hits from a tree trunk, or being hit by the car.

It's best to go on the offence with the first wave of Striders, seeing that by the time they appear they're already on the ground. When they start coming in dropships you get a fair bit of time to get from Strider to Strider but after that theres a bit of a rush where they will come in full force, and for that part I went around all the locations (Sawmill, Cranes, Water Tower) and got rid of the Hunters then went and waited at the two outposts near the main silo on foot and just hid behind trees with the Magnusson Devices. I didn't intend to, it's just the final 2/3 Striders were really kicking me about in the car, unlike the first wave which don't seem to perplexed of your presence.

The last Strider I took down was literally stepping over the chain link fence towards the rocket. Still got him but goddamn it was a nerve-racking few seconds between rushing over to a shack, picking up a Device and praying that it hit the Strider.

Sam-2k, thanks I was very curious about the number, I was nowhere near close the first time I tried this level. And I actually thought I was doing well by dropping a third one.

Antipop, nice story and also thanks for the strategy, I'm going to try that. I LOL'd when you mentioned the dropships. I haven't even gotten that far into the battle. I'm in trouble.

You are one smart smart man, I did the exact same thing
