Shit....i was at the very end of the game on hard, and someone gave me a link to that multiplayer thing i put all the new files in my half life 2 folder and next time i clicked on half life 2 some like inizilizing thing happend...and there was no single player....just multiplayer i wanna play single player tho...how do i get it back

No... Try backing up your HL2 save files, and anything else you'd wanna backup, and redownload it...

That would most likely be the easiest way, not necessarily the fastest...

Remove the line from the Launch options under HL2 and leave it as "-console" only (w/o quotes).

That will get your saved games back.

Okay i'm kinda a dumbass when it comes to comps, okay are you talking about if i right click on the half-life 2 shortcut on my desktop and change where it sais "Target" to "-console" and i'll gt my single player back? is it JUST "-console"? becaise i tried just deleating the last bit where it has the "-" and putting console after that and it didn't work....

Well, if you installed the MP mod correctly, you should have gone to your "My games" list, right clicked on HL2, select properties, launch options and entered a line. If you didn't copy the line there, then you must have copied it to your HL2 desktop shortcut target. Delete everything that was not there originally.

If that doesn't work, delete the shortcut and make a new one. If that doesn't work, get rid of the multiplayer mod.

exactly man i don't want the multiplayer mod anymore since it's shit right now anyways...but like it's mixed in with all my normal half-life 2 folders it did it atuomaticly....and if i deleat the wrong thing then half-life 2 won't even work....but your saying if i maybe start it up from not mu desktop it might work?

Go to "My computer" and click on "Local Disk (C: )" Then click Valve> then Steam> then SteamApps> your account name> half-life 2. Once you're there, copy the folder called "hl2mp" to your desktop for safe keeping. Once you do that, delete the "hl2mp" folder from your Half-life 2 folder to the recycle bin. There should be no folder in your main Half-life 2 folder called hl2mp.

After that, make sure you have no additional lines in your target for your shortcut, and make sure that your launch options for HL2 are blank (right click hl2 on your my games list> properties> launch options> make sure it's blank.) Then try to load your game. If it doesn't work, I'll e-mail you a save game file. (I'm at "Our Benefactors.")
