One-click console problem

I'm experiencing the weirdest problem: I open the console with ~
and then, whatever next letter is typed, the console is closed again.
I can then reopen the console and the letter I last typed is there,
but the next letter closes the console again. I can type a full word
when I use the cursor keys and print a few spaces and such. Next
time, same thing.

I use Windows XP (no SP2). I believe its a language setting. Does
anyone know how to fix this?

I had the same problem. After you first press the ~, type I or A. The console will stay and you can freely delete the ì you created.

What, you think it's a Steam problem then? I thought it was Windows behaving badly.

No clue. I've got Dutch keyboard settings (probably) like you though, that could cause it.

Yeah hl2.net turns peoples posts into ads.. very sad..
anyway, i have the same problem with steam, i think everyone has that problem..
