I remember Gabe saying one group of scientists of wrong, and the others spectacularly wrong. Obviously Breen is spectacularly wrong, but what do you think Kleiner's and Eli's group was doing wrong? I've got a few ideas, but none of them are convincing.

he didn't say anything about 'scientists'.

all I remember Gabe (or was it Doug?) said was 'one fraction is wrong and the other is very wrong'

but who is who - no clue...

Eli and Breen, regarding Humanity? They both want what's best for the race, after all.

Say what?

One groups of scientists IS wrong, it's not that hard to decipher.

The two 'factions' are made up of scientists, I was simply asking how the group opposing Breen, which I would assume to be Eli's, is mistaken in their efforts in some way.

I thought they might have cut that element from the story, since all they appear to be doing is helping people escape the city, and building their own teleporter.

I still maintain that the Combine probably aren't as bad as we're lead to believe- it's just that Breen is an idiot who tries to be dramatic rather than explaining the actual situation to Gordon

I also think it'd be a nice "twist" if the Combine are the lesser of two evils- who's to say there aren't even worse dimension-spanning super-empires?

Yeah Xen are more evil than the combine. Or the resistance. Or the G-man...Or Barney! Who turns out to be the main evil character, lulling you into a false sense of security with his so called 'friendship'.

Eli’s group is wrong because the combine are going to retaliate and make an example out of this little rebellion on a backwater world in their unimaginably vast and powerful empire.
That’s how I saw it anyway. Like the Romans allways did.

again: who said that the mentioned factions were SCIENTISTS?

afaik Combine are not scientists (being interdimmensional conglomerate of different races I say that they are far more than that) , rebels are not all scientists, vortigaunts are not scientists, even G-man's employers may not be scientists...

maybe Combine are wrong invading earth, cuz they're getting their asses kicked bad by Gordon, and rebels are very wrong fighting Combine cuz they'ge getting their asses kicked very bad?

or maybe all this is just some wicked story to keep us all brainstorming till exp packs or HL3 come out?

I remembered hearing the:

"One faction is wrong. The other is very wrong."

But, I dont see how it fits in:

Maybe. Or maybe Breen isnt such a bad guy. I had the feeling he was going to tell you something if Mossman didnt jump in.

I'm thinking it was a plot aspect cut from teh game.

He was talking, or at least I believe he was talking about, the resistance splitting into two factions on how to deal with the Combine.

Where is the original quote from?

In any case, it would be spectacularly interesting if it were the rebels who were spectacularly wrong.

Well people are speculating that the resistance hired Freeman from the gman. The gman, given his spectacular power probably wouldn't have much need for money (and if money was the thang, I'd think the combine would have more). Also, the gman hardly seems like a nice guy. Maybe the resistance, while good in intention, will have to pay a huge price for hiring Gordon. One can only wonder what the g-man accepts as payment.

I dont hink it was the resistance hiring gordon. I think the g-man new about barney and wanted to put gordon to the test again for his new friends that want gordons services. Besides a prefer to think everybody is wrong except me so therefore i win, shoot first, shoot second, shoot sommore and then maybe ask questions.?

Yeh cos in one of the bink videos , in dr kleiners lab alyx is saying she wished she could have done it her father's way, but this was the first chance she had to do something or other..
cant remember the rest

I can imagine the combine being not all that bad
yes, they did us wrong and they conquered us
but who's to say that their rule would be anything but benevolent? Unfortunately we get Breen to rule us, and he's a prick
or something
it seems unlikely, but yea
