Operation: Oblivion

At a glance:

Single-player modification that incorporates movie-type storytelling and meshes the First-Person Shooter and Role-Playing Game genres.

History:

-In 6012 CE, the Human Research Vessel (HRV) White Wind is shot down on its mission to an uncharted star system 300 light years from Earth. The vessel is important to human kind because it is one of 7 still left in operation as well. The special operations team, Dark Phalanx was requested for the rescue mission to the planet codenamed Oblivion, in hopes of bringing back survivors and the HRV.

Background:

-The modification will put the player in the role of Supreme Commander Johnson Lo, a long time veteran of the Federacy Armed Services and a strong minded, morally guided leader. Under his command are 10 other men, long time friends and fellows, who will aid him with whatever means necessary for the successful completion of their mission.

Planned Mechanics:

-The modification will be a story driven, single player modification that will rely heavily on cinematic devices to tell the story of Operation: Oblivion. The story will be entirely constructed from aspects of my novel and will take place during the later half of the book.

-Combat in the modification will be realistic for the time period and the use of powered armors will give a new insight into combat of the 61st century. However, the enemy, being far superior in technology, will prove challenging, and at some points impossible, for the player, which will require the use of team members and strategies.

-Hand to hand combat, CQC and other martial arts can be used by the player at times of great need when wearing the Assault Armor or no-armor at all. While this may be suicide, it has its rewards.

-Human weaponry in the modification will utilize a wide array of standard bullet weaponry(economic troubles since the Third Dark Age make energy weapons not only impractical, but completely unaffordable), explosive weaponry and high-speed missile weaponry.

-The enemy, known as the Xakmomaijzin, called Xaks for short(by the humans), will utilize a complete arsenal of energy weapons, anti-matter, anti-energy and dark energy. These weapons can be used by the player, once the player has deciphered the weapon’s usage. But proficiency will only be attained with practice.

-The enemy will never be the same twice. Possessing the technology to evolve on the fly, the enemy will be constantly changing to meet new demands to beat challenges, namely the player. The enemy one go through the game will not be the same another go.

-Food, drink and sleep will create challenges for the player, affecting stamina and the ability to function in combat.
