Forum (and site in general) response time is goin up up up. (That's bad.)

Have you considered removing some of the extras (like the "who's online") to cut down on your traffic? Also, you might want to turn off GZIP encoding if you're using it as it appears that your CPU is struggling more then your bandwidth although I could be wrong.

Last, the forums have a "Link1 | Link2 | Link3 | Link4" at the top thta appears to serve no purpse?

There is no feedback forum so I just chose one of the general forums hoping an admin would catch it.

I've disabled GZip and will be changing the forum layout soon and playing around with the code/features to make it run a little faster.

Good to see an admin acknowledge the slow forums. It has gotten so bad recently that sometimes a request to view a thread times out.

Well it just happened recently for me. I think it because there are so many people on the forums right now.

gzip does not add any substantial load to the server, id say turn it back on, if anything turning it of is slowing things down.

U may want to remove the images (Profile, Website, Search etc) and replace with text links.

gzip is bad for cpu but good for bandwidth.

Only they know which one this forum needs more of. :p

gzip basically zips the HTML page before sending it to you and your browser unzips it. The zipping on the server side takes CPU time but results in a smaller file to send (so less bandwidth).

I've been thinking about changing the images to text links, and doing a few other tweaks to speed up things (kinda the same way SA has been 'modified').
