...have been EXTREMELY positive!

They are VERY impressed by what we've done over the last few days and are very very intrigued by what CelerityFM and RogueShadow came up with regarding the grid coordinates and have been building on it - speculating that what's left of Grozny, Chechnya might be the basis for City 17.

According to one site poster, "Those guys over at HL2.net scare me sometimes, but when they're good, they're damned good".

Let's keep up the good work!

oh right i thought CelerityFM was a radio station.

You people scare me, no matter what you do.

Yep, you should pat yourselves on the back.

Keep up the good work I suppose :) And I agree with Rupert too.

after seeing how much random little bits of information you hacked out of that whiteboard picture, i too became very frightened... lol

-merc

yeah that was pretty scary....(G-Man Voice)Sometimes u are too..............smart.

Doesn't Grozny look a little bit too messed up to be City 17?
City 17 looks like it has recently been invaded.

But then again, I'm probably misinterpreting it :)

Do you have a link to the thread where Grozny was mentioned?

heh, did I mistakenly get popular by pointing out what was obvious to me and prabably 20 others?

:) *beam* :)

Yes, indeed.

I also brought it up for discussion on Shacknews: http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=10184835 -- SFLUFAN, what other forums have brought it up besides hl2fallout? I'd be very curious to see what other contributions they've made to the theory (the hl2fallout guys pointed out some interesting stuff near the bottom of the thread before my post there).

And RogueShadow I hear ya :P Also PvtRyan and you too SFLUFAN deserve credit as well as they contributed some good bits too.

Any comments from Valve on this?

and PS the "fm" part isn't neccesarily FM like FM radio, but I'm beginning to think of it like that now :P.. (I'm usually just celerity but I added fm randomly when someone else took my login on a board a long time ago and its stuck with me)

Good job!

theres a lot of talent here. Halflife2.net pwns.

\o/ winnorz, although when you plug in the grid co-ordinates we should have gotten a G-Man Face saying "Congratulations halflife2.net, you've passed the second test" didn't happen though =(

I don't know much about GPS, but I know there's a "game" called geocaching.
www.geocaching.com will tell you all about it.

Cyan, maker of the myst series, used it for promoting Uru. They gave the community riddles that ended up in GPS coordinates and at those coordinates were packages.
I don't know much about it but there was a site that listed the entire process. I'll try to find it and post it up later.

Anyway, maybe Valve is doing the same thing here? maybe there is a package at those coords?

edit: the link for the uru stuff: http://www.liquid-light.net/zandi/ the site is a bit confusing but you'll figure it out :p

Lol, I'm going to laugh when someone sets out with a gps to those coordinates and finds nothing. hehe

I still dont see, how a Russian city, near Siberia, can be comparable to City 17
