Over-Saved! ***SPOILERS***

CRAP! I'm on the Dark Energy Chapter of HL2...
Breen has opened the portal, the two ships flew in - i detroyed them and thought i was safe so i saved my game. But i still have to fire them photon ball thingys at the teleport to break it some more, but the problem is i don't have enough time to do it after i saved!! Do you see what i mean? I get down to the last couple panels but then breen says "you failed Freeman".

What can i do?!? Don't tell me i've got to the last chapters to ruin it all now?!
Please Help!!!
 
Go into saved games, there should be 2 or 3 previous saves. If that fails go into new game and start the dark energy chapter over again.
 
Go to the load game screen. Check the quicksave before the last (the game saves two). That might be time enough. If not, load the last autosave, it will have you replaying the last bit of the game.

Hint: you don't really have to destroy the gunships. Do so if you want to, but you don't have to.
 
Bloody Breen. Just restart the chapter, and tear that reactor a new one :)
 
Oh ok. How do i restart the chapter instead of the whole game?
 
go to new game...........youll figure it out from there, trust me.
 
Lol, oh yeah! Well i've just complted the game then. Hmm. 3 words spring to mind...WTF?!

I don't get it!!

I had doubts all the way through the game, like, "whats goin on", but i thought it would all come together and make sense(like F.E.A.R did eventually) but i'm still not understanding it!! Anyone care to explain? I played the first one but i'm confused. Who is the dude with the case(Mr.G is it ppl call him?)? Wy did he appear in the end as a hologram after the explosion? Someone explain! lol
 
Theres no need to explain. Few things in life are handed to you on a plate.
 
HL2 ends in a cliffhanger. It's a sad fact, but one that we must accept. Gman is just as much a mystery as he was at the beginning of the game. This ofcourse compels us to buy all the coming episodes to make actual sense of the story. That way Valve can keep us in suspension even longer and get much more money from us than they would, if they had just concluded the game in the end.
 
What? If you cared to read the whole thread then you would see i found out how to start from a chapter and have completed the game.

I was saying "oh dear" in response to Parrot of Doom's 'words of wisdom'.
 
Read some threads Joel, you will learn a hell of a lot.

Instead of explaining things, why are ppl on this forum so quick to try and look clever by posting stuff like that? Fine i've only posted a few messages, what does that mean? That i don't have as much spare time as you to spend on forums. Good One.
 
Joel: you say you played the first HL... if so, the ending should make sense to you. Of course it ends in a cliffhanger, ad we won't find out who the G-Man is until HL3, and maybe not even then.

And don't get all angry :). It's simply that this forum has many threads on the story, with many different theories/possible interprations... you'll indeed learn a lot by reading them, in the sense that you'll learn a few things we know for certain and a whole load of speculation/guessing.

Just head over to the Singleplayer Mythology forum, and you'll have as much to read as you may possibly want to.
 
I'm not gettin angry mate and i know what your saying.Fair Enough it's been covered before, and i haven't read it but why do ppl have to get on each others backs when someone asks a question about something?

I didnt mean to offend you if thats what i did.

I simply meant that you should read some threads, like "the combine vs Xen" and "Gordon Freeman is a bumbling idiot" and such. You lern a lot. Thats how i did. I like Sulkdodds should put smiles at my posts :D:D:D:D:D

Maybe if you said, "Oh brother, another stupid thread." it would have been correct, but in the end, you're still a jackass that needs to keep his worthless comments to himself.

Now, yes, the ending is confusing as hell. Cliffhangers do that. It's their way of pulling you in to buy more of their upcomming products. Sly devils them. You know why? BECAUSE IT WORKED! Oh well, I love the Half-Life universe, and will continue to follow it 'till the end!
 
Yea i wasn't having a go at the end of the game! The whole of HL2 was awesome!!! I was just commenting on certain aspects i didn't understand, and people decided to start having a go at me! Oh Well.

Well, smart ass, not everybody here is English or American or whatever, so mistakes will happen. As for the comment being worthless, I have to disagree. I keep finding threads like this where you people completely forget what the topic was and you start to annoy each other, well I hope you're having fun you pricks.

- to the OP you'll find out loads of information by using the search button, it would take days just to scratch the surface of the game in just one thread
 
mmm, i'd watch ya language some of ya tbh, as for the ending, aye it can be a tad confusing, some prefer to play the game through a couple of times just to understand it slightly :P however i agree with what some of the others have said, Just go through and read some of the threads mate, it makes life a hell of a lot easier for people that are still not too sure :)
 
Well Joel i do hope you didnt get offended by my post, and that i tryed to have a go at you. I was mearly pointing out that there are several very intressting threads, that im sure you have seen by now.
 
Nah don't worry i wasn't offended mate.
The thing is, my original post was about a problem i had, and then i only put about the ending as something to say. Know what i mean? I just commented on it as i was typing.

If i had started a whole new thread about the ending i could understand people saying "just do a search".

But everything is cleared up now, i sorted my problem, completed the game and now i am trying to piece together the ending(like everyone else!!).

Possibly lock this thread now to kill it?

Some of you need to watch your mouth. Not everyone picked up HL2 when it was first released, and not everyone is going to get it first time round. Joel, if you've any story related questions head over to the Singleplayer mythology section.

Have a read through alot of the threads as well - the place is a gold mine detailing HL1 and 2 from start to finish.
