I like p-diddy.. he actually pays attention to poor forgotten black communities.. I respect someone who cares and preaches to a forgotten community of poor people. Some rappers get fame and forgot about they're past he grew up on the streets and acknoledges and embraces that and uses it to get people to take control of who runs the country. I cant say I care about his personality as I will never know him (he's a celeb), but that is good of him. The hip-hop community has a message and a really powerful one at that, somebody needs to speak for them.

I edited the post so it sounds justified if it seemed stupid before. Not that they're was anything wrong with it before but the hip-hop community is strong and means alot to the vote and to our country. Alot of the streets can be influenced by powerful black rappers. They can really sway people to learn the issues.

Now that I just see as ignorant, and mtv does not own hip-hop even if that capaign centers around p. diddy. Yes it's a bit silly but I respect P. Diddy for what he is doing. Also if you think those things suck that dosent stop it from being a powerful voice of many people and source of guidence for poor africa-american/latino/mexican etc. communities. How can you reply to a thread like this with hip-hop sucks.. dont be ignorant this thread is about a forgotten populace who will listen to hip-hoppers and rapper etc. not if you like a genre of ****ing music.

People in the ghetto wont listen to politicians or preaching from people who dont seen to give a shit about them ever, but people that rap about them and talk about them every day and growing up like them they will respect, so it makes sense, and I respect it.

The argument is whether if it is effective or not. Having a 30 second spot that interrupts an episode of "Pimp My Ride" is not an effective way to get me to vote. If anything, it just ticks me off.

A better way for P. Diddy and MTV would be to donate money to people who do voter registration campaigns.

MTV is merely an outlet you can like or hate that, but hiphop is a voice, therefore even if you dislike most music in this genre it still remains to be important to poor communities, and that what this thread is about, so please dont hijack it into a "hip hop is terrible" thread. Because personally I dont give a shit about your taste's in music, right now anyway.

I think it's cool that in this election rappers / hip-hoppers seemt to be care and have people telling them to issues. Even if it's done in a silly fashion. I really liked Eminem's new rap. P Diddys campain is a little silly ("vote or die",. I'm pretty sure he was trying to imply that our fate is in the hands of the voters, not that he'd kill anyone), but it is good that he's trying, and getting the message out.

The SouthPark take on it was pretty funny,.
