Patience is a virtue.... but I'd rather live in sin (installing problems)

Just wondering... how long does it take for Sin to install? It seems like it's been at the copying new files stage for about an hour. There's no handy progress bar and if it weren't for the fact that the window seems active and the DVD light's flashing it's little heart out, I'd think the thing had crashed.

I know people had issues with Half Life 2 installing when they bought retail, but since I bought it through steam and was playing it in minutes I didn't pay all that much attention. Sin was more of an impulse buy so I got the retail copy to "save time." Is this a Steam/Sin thing that other people have had? Or should I give up and start over? Am I trying to distract myself as this damn thing loads?

Thanks for your help.

I takes a while for it to nstall, but nowhere near an hour for me, you could put the cdkey into steam and download the whole thing though, if your cd won`t work, but I`m sure I`m telling you summat you already know.

Yeah I was considdering doing just that when the thing finished... well that stage did. Haven't actually played much of it yet, I realised I needed to sort out my PC if I wanted it to run properly (seems a lot more demanding that Half Life 2 !) so i'll have to see.

Of course, there is one thing that it seems to have done to my computer; for some reason text displayed on my TV/Monitor is now slightly blurred... not eact letter, just one or two from almost every word. I can't see a display setting that's been changed but it's starting to really annoy me.

Not sure why I'm sharing that, but oh well, it's good to talk... or it was in the 90's.

I heard the pirated version comes pre-installed and all you have to do is click the exe and play

Sucks when the pirates get better quality software than the ppl who pay :/

Yup, that`s about the size of it, I got that version before I paid for the retail, it loads faster and runs better on my machine, but then, If I decided not to buy t, I wouldn`t be able to get patches and extras that I can now with an original copy.

that just doesn't sound possible... how much more popular would PC gaming be if playing a new game had console simplicity?

Oh and the game runs like cold poop on my machine.
Half life 2: looks beautiful, only a couple of stutters
Lost Coast: WOW graphics, a couple of sound issues/ stutters...
Sin Episodes: even with graphics set sub- Half Life 1 standards, it's a jittery slug of a game.

You'd think game makers would realize that :/

Personally, installing makes me happy because it explodes my hype meter. Yes, I'm like that.
