There are 2 achievements for hl2e2 that I cannot seem to ever finish: Pinata Party and Squish some Grub. I go through and kill every antlion grub I see and yet I get in the 300 something range, but can never complete the achievement. Also, I can't see to find all 9 web caches, although I've found 7-8 of them I can not find 9. I have played through the first 2 levels 3 times already and on all 3 attempts I have not completed it. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact locations of the web caches and if there are any grubs in some awkward, tricky, hard to see locations that could be hard to miss even if you were looking everywhere?

It's possible, just keep listening to the grub squeaking so you can find them. And pinatas - most of the are in the bottom elevator area.

yea I've even gone to the point of no clipping, just to make sure I can find them, yet I'm missing out, really sucks. :( As for the web caches, I know there is 1 in chapter 1 and 8 in chapter 2. Looks like I'll be replaying those chapters until I can get these silly achievements... (damn me and wanting to finish everything...)

At least you're getting some achievements. Ive just finished my second playthrough (one on Normal and one on Hard) and I haven't got nil. For some reason my achievements are f**ked. I did most, if not all, of the requirements and none of them are unlocked.

Same thing with Portal until I replayed it about 5 times. Then again I don't care as long as the story progresses.

I got a few. 1/4 are mandatory anyways if you want to beat the game.

Are you logged into Steam?

Cheating usually nullifies the achievements.

Nope, didn't cheat. Except for maybe having cl_forcepreload and sv_forcepreload enabled. And I don't think those commands are cheating. But that might have been causing my achievements to f**k up.

Yeah, Valve's games are pretty twitchy about any sort of console command that enables something.

There was a cache in the room at the bottom of the lift shaft that I almost missed. I haven't looked to see if I got them all though.

Squish some Grub: look up, look down, look all around.
I try this one three times before I got it (one run with commentary which showed me that was a bad idea). I keep missing 4-2 grubs, I found them in an elevator shaft.

Pinata Party: They are bright yellow people.
Just look for bright yellow holes, the last three have grubs in them too btw.

i figured i couldn't finish the grub thing because I hadn't found all of the web caches yet. Also, you have to be logged into the steam community/friends for the achievements to be registered. I was experimenting and figured out that the achievements will not update if you have sv_cheats 1 set (aka cheats turned on). However, because I was trying to find every grub and I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any I used no clipping to check larger areas. But the problem is that if you have a cheat enabled and try to get your achievement done, it will not update. so you can do the following:

sv_cheats 1
(enter in all the cheats you want)
sv_cheats 0

this way, steam knows you have cheats turned off, yet the god mode/noclipping, etc still works. :)
