In the may issue of PC Gamer that I just got in the mail today there's a preview of episode 1 and a commentary on the episodic content by Gabe Newell. I won't quote the two in their entirity but I will say I found this bit of info interesting.
"Episode 4 will have a stand-alone plot and be developed outside of Valve." Then, "Preferring to continue the story of Half-Life episodically, he forsees using the format to branch out into other genres and take chances that Valve otherwise wouldn't take. (High on his wishlist? A third-personal tactical game set in the Half-Life universe.)"
If quoting this is considered copyright infringement or anything like that or is against forum rules please tell me and I'll edit the post. Or if it's already been said then then I'm sorry for double-posting.
If you want to read the full articles, as well as the info on Battlefield 2142 then you should pick up the May PC Gamer. It really is a great publication in and of itself.
