Performance and system requirements

I'm thinking about getting Portal 2 - it will be the first game I've bought for PC for a couple of years (I've been on Xbox 360 until I sold it recently) - and just wondering how well it will run on my system. Does Portal 2 bring a significant update to Source? My laptop is a couple of years old (Core 2 Duo 2Ghz, GeForce 9600M GT 512mb, 3GB RAM) but it runs all of the Orange Box smoothly at full res. Has anyone with similar specs had any performance issues?

I have a gaming laptop with similar but somewhat higher specs: 3.1Ghz C2D, 9800m GT 512Mb and 4Gb of RAM. I ran it on the modest settings the game picked for default, at 1680x1050, 2xAA, Very High models, Medium effects, and High for the other two settings whatever they were. It ran very smooth most of the time apart from some slight fps drops in the big cinematic scenes and more gargantuan chambers. Looks gooorgeous.

you'll be fine, if anything you'll have to turn off one or two features and that is all
