Gabe has said "september 30th" so many times, he feels like he is talking to a brick wall. So have MANY other of the employees in interviews. Go look at all the interviews. EVERY SINGLE ONE asks this question. If you haven't gotten the jist of it yet, you seriously should consider riding the short bus.

As for all the nov release dates at websites? Here is what I think is happening:
A. They don't get their info from Valve/Vivendi and base their release dates on rumors on the web
B. Fragmaster is E-mailing them all claiming to be a Vivendi/Valve representative.
C. They randomly push buttons while typing in the release date field.

I can't believe people are still in doubt of September 30th. I mean everything points to that date (including the newly confirmed release date for the benchmark.) Valve executives have confirmed it. Performance numbers have been released.

It's going to go gold soon... and it'll ship on September 30th.

If you consider someone yelling at you over and over and over again that it is going to happen a surprise, then you need a dictionary.

My guess would still be a release to co-incide with the 5th anniversery of Halflifes release, which means a early November release date. I doubt they would pass that oppurtunity up just to release the game a week or so earlier..

To be honest it confuses me slightly that yesterday PHL announced that the Alcatraz showing will be on 30th September. I thought that was supposed to be an advanced preview of the playable game? And I thought they were going to release its benchmark before the release of HL2 but they've announced that that will be 30th September too.

5 minutes ago i have called with joysoft in germany they says that hl2 is not in the import list from usa in month september and that the date of release comes from distributors from usa.

As far as I know, Valve has only ever said the release date is September 30.

Yea, good point. If this were called an "advanced" preview of the game, why would they release the game on the same DAY as an advanced preview? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose?
