Ok, so every time i try to start half-life 2 a message comes up saying 'this game is currently unavailable. please try again later' and when i try to start counter-strike:source and half-life:source another message comes up saying 'only one instance of the game can be running at one time'. I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix the problem!! :frown: :frown: :frown:

Now now, Killing yourself and acting emo won't help much.

Reinstall HL2, Defrag your hard-drive....
If it says another instance is already running, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and close HL2.exe.

are you using windows xp?

click "start"
click "Control panel"
click " perrformance and maintenance"
Click " rearange items on my hardrive to make programs run faster"
click "analyse" if it says you need to defragment, then clikc "defragment"
if u have alot of files, a big hardrive, or alot of fragmented files, this can take quite a while... so be patient

Try deleteing your clientregistry.blob file that is located in your steam folder.

ok nothing is working and have been trying to fix it now for 5 HOURS...what a piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

deleting the clientregistry...another problem...everytime i delete it, leave the folder and then check the folder again...its back?? how do i delete it without it coming back?

Return the game and get a new copy.

Defrag your hard-drive.

Reinstall Windows.

Apply a sledge hammer to your computer.

You don't need to defrag and tweak the registry. Closing STEAM and restarting your computer usually solves the problem.

You cannot delete the client registry fully, it will continue coming back.

Like Javert said, I hope you already tried restarting your computer. More often than not, that solves the problem.

Because it's needed for Steam to operate :D
But sometimes it can cause for some troubles, so deleting it will reset it.

Could get something like CrapCleaner and CLEAN your registry.

I tested 32 registry cleaners and the best one (frequently developed, functionality, stability, memory usage, safety, etc) is JV16 PowerTools. Another good one is CCleaner. Macecraft (the company that makes JV16) did 5 Release Candidates of PowerTools before releasing the 2006 final. Excellent program.

I have nothing contributive to add that hasn't already been said (restart steam lol), but I'd like to see whether the OP solved his problem or killed himself. Updates, and pictures if possible plz.
