Please help in the first episode

First of all,go easy on me for asking a simple questi0onm as i have just bought the game yesterday but couldnt go any further .

i have started playing the game and in the first episode ,i have been intorduced to the prof and then been asked to meet the other agent under cover in the plaza.i have gone up the stairs and have been asked to pick up a can which i could do.but i dont know what to do next.i have just been roaming all the time not knowing what to do.please help to tell what i need to do next to advance.i have nt been able to advance further than that.
Hope u understand what i am asking.if u dont ,please let me know and i will be able to explain in better detail.

You've just got to the part where the gaurd tell you to pick the can up right? From where he was standing walk straight forward, and at the end to the left should be a corridoor, go down it and through the doors, and you'll be outside.

yeah i have gone out thro the corridor but what to do next.
i have been able to open the door and go out but what next.nothing hapopenes and i keep walking in the strteet and every one i speak to keeps telling me not to talk.
and i am unable to pass thro any of the doors in the street as well.

Jesus H Smith......and there was me making a joke a week ago about being still being stuck in "that rock-hard railway station level"....

Right:
Once you're outside, in the street, turn right down a street, go past a guard in front of an open door. At the end of the street you will see two more guards and their vehicle. Go right before that. Jump onto the dumpster (big green box thing on the ground) beside a fence. From that, jump onto the ladder, and climb up. Then climb back down to the ground on the other side of the fence.

Not to be unkind, but have you played this sort of game before? You should try and approach it like real life. If you are stuck, just try all your options (run, jump, shoot, press a switch, talk to someone, explore....)

More help needed guys.
I am in the route kanal episode now.
I am stuck at the place where i go into one of the tunnels.
I cross the water canal which has a revolving thingy in it.then go on the ground ....then into another water channel and then i come up again with into open ground..fight with few cops,go into a tunnel where i fight the aerial things.....then go into a dark chamber and get into a tunnel by blasting one of the covers of the tunnel.i fall into a room which is full of inflammble drums and attacked by about 10 aerial things.
I am stuck at this point.i dont know how to proceed from here.
have gone down the ladder...into water but cannot find a outlet from there.
i can see 2 exits but unable to reach either of them.
one exit : when u come down the ladder,u see a white tunnel with red light emnarting from it.
the other exit is at the eye level when u get to the top of the ladder.
i am unable to get threo either of them/.how do we get out of this place.please help.

Many people get stuck here. Jump from the ladder to the pipes. Walk on the pipes, and then go into the other room, spin a valve, the water will rise, and swim through to the other room.

Is it the red valve.i tried to get on the pipes to turn the valve but could nt climb the pipes to get to the valve.how do i get to the valve.the pipes are so steep.
Are u tsalking of the valve in the next room where there is another ladder to get down into the water?
