Portal "basically done", TF2 being polished

Hey folks, I asked a few questions the guy who was presenting Valve's games at GC (you can see him at the photo found in the web... what's his name?) and he said that Portal is "basically done" (the GC demo was running real-time) and TF2 being polished. It was pretty surprising, so I asked if there is a possibility that Portal will be released earlier as some kind of pre-order bonus or beta as CS:S was released. The answer wasn't clear of course, it was like "Steam has many possibilities".

I really hope they will release it a bit earlier, so it can ease our pain of waiting til Q1 2007. Do you think guys it will happen?

Well from what I played, Portal is just like he says... "Basically done".

I definetely think that it could be released at the end of this year if they wanted to (Perhaps for those who pre-order Ep2 they would give them instant access to Portal... That would be nice)

I haven't played TF2 yet however, so I can't really judge that.

I'm wondering how big Portal maps are going to be. Is it going to be a linear experience (i.e. One big puzzle made up of smaller puzzles, like a maze), or is it more of a level by level game (i.e. there are "exits" at the end of puzzles, and you can select the next puzzle you want to complete).

It would be sweet if you could pre-purchase Episode 2 and get access to Portal straight away. Then again, waiting and having all 3 games land on my lap at once would be orgasmic just from the sensation alone,

Guys, there was a whole wall to the right about 2m x 4m covered with EP2 artworks - there was huge Alyx and Gordon faces, also outdoors area in the background. That was my first thought when I came inside the Valve box "geez, I'd like to have this wallpaper in my room"

Having Portal early would be sooo sweet, as a sweetener while we wait for Ep2. Besides, if they say its practically done, why wait until Q1 to release it?

OMG!
Yeah its good to know it is done (and TF2 almost done). Epi Two must be quite difficult (judging from Epi One commentary) and then there's the console ports...
