Ok, when ever I start portal, when I just LOOK at a portal, the game freezes, then closes itself. I'm stuck. ON THE FIRST LEVEL. And I really wanna play portal! Please help me.

Try turning down your graphics settings as low as possible. Start the game and go to the options menu. Go to the video tab and then to advance settings. Turn everything on as low as possible and try again.
Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. Steam support has a good page on this.
You can also verify that your files are all correct. Go to your Steam window, right click on Portal and go to properties. Under the local content tab click verify game files (or something similar) and Steam will check if all your files are correct (you need to be connected to the internet and it can take a while).
If none of this works your computer may not be good enough to run Portal. Can you post your specs?
