Portal Storm Locations Speculation

Alright, so we know that the portal storm(s) in Black Mesa and other areas of earth opened up areas to Xen. But why Xen? And if not Xen, where else, besides the Combine world? Is there other places we seem to not know about here? Discuss?

I got the impression that Xen is the Borderland, in that there's only one. All things passing from one dimension to another have to go through Xen. So even with mroe than 2 dimensions, it's still the only bottleneck.

Yes. Valve haven't elaborated much on that point, however there are several allusions to string theory, particularly M-theory and branes.

And the combine are from another universe, that much has been well established. So that means there are atleast 5 dimensions (including time).

Well, even Valve admitted they weren't particularly fascinated with Xen, but you can't necessarily work around the problem in BMS, otherwise it wouldn't feel like HL
