"Preparing to load Hl2/CS:S"

ive been at this for two days now
my steam says "Preparing to load Hl2/CS:S" and then the little loading mouse comes up and nothing happens... i have HL2 Game of the Year edition

ive alrdy been refered to ReForce and that didnt work

halp plz

Specs? And have you let HL2 and CS:S fully download and gather all updates?

And Everything is 100%

Type "dxdiag" into the "Run..." command line. System and Display are what you'll be looking at.

Uhhh... well since you deleted the image that showed me what your specs were, I can't really say. But if I remember correctly, just about everything.

I have the exact same problem, i have the game of the year edition and none of the games it came with worked. same problem and i have a
Pentium 4 3.00GHz
1.5 gig of ram
Radeon 9800
still doesent work

Do you have the latest updates? (DirectX 9.0c December version, latest Catalyst Graphic Drivers)
Sometimes it also won't work if you have outdated sound drivers.
