Most webdesigners do not tell the price of their services, well that depends of course what kind of site we are talking about. But i regular website, for like a DVD's shop, what would be a rough price for that kind of website like www.webhallen.com

( dont ask me why )
:bounce:

Hmm, i mean how much could a website service cost ?
if you need a website you can ask a professional webdesign studio to make your site.
How much do they usually cost...

In the 6 numbers most likely (a Web site like that : www.webhallen.com). It's about 65$ CAN per hour. Depends if you have fancy flash stuff, advanced programming, and features like buy online, cart, a huge database etc.

Oh you mean how much for a web designer... My dad was one, he charged about 100-200 for a site, that including costs to run it and update it. But I dont know any other web designers.

I charged 2 500$ CAN for a very basic HTML Web site. For companies it's usually not less than that. And as soon as you have php (or asp) then it's alot more.

You mean like 10 000$ ? for whole site, updates and stuff.
The thing is that im going to make a website for a company, hopefully.
They said they needed a new site and asked me to give them a price.

Wait, some company asked you to make a website and instead of doing the work yourself you want to hire someone else to do it? I hope you can make a little profit if that's what you're trying to do.

Nah you dont get it. Im asking for fair prices. So i dont make it too expensive nor too cheap.

More likely he was asked to make a price and he wants to find out what he should charge. If so it totally depends on how good the site will be, and if you are going to offer surport for it, e.g not just make it then never update it or fix stuff on it.

If you just made it yourself you could make more money.

I know these things, but i gave an example. www.webhallen.com what would the full price for a site like that be, including updates etc.

Cant you figer it out yourself? Without knowing what kind of site your able to do, then there is little we can say anyways.

I told you what kind of website.

I don't see a point in paying a web designer, you're better off learning to code yourself. To save a lot of time you can rip interfaces off other sites and change it so it looks fairly different. I coded the forum on my site in php (before I redesigned it), and I ripped the interface off msn groups lol. They never sued my though, probably cuz my site was password protected.

gd to see you and ritz aren't fighting anymore.

Yeah, best way is to learn doing everything by yourself, but somepeople doesnt have time or interests in doing that. So they hire a professional webdesigner instead. Its nothing for a big company to get a good, maybe expensive website, because they'll allways win the money back.

I don't see why they just don't get rid of you. They don't need a middle man for this kind of deal, they can just contact a real web designer.

That is a good point, is this a big company, if so they can just phone a real web designer who can give them on the spot prices etc. Cant say my dad needed to post on a forum to ask what to charge his costomers O_o

woah.... easy on the hate machine, it might blow. :O

But back on topic: I have no clue what web designers charge, but I would make them pay as much as I possibly could. Making the most possible profit is the most senseable thing imo.

usually for a proffesional site like $25, that is prob the most expensive i have seen, but i haven't looked around that much. your best bet is to learn how to make your own website layouts.

post examples

Yes, I am quite curious to see his "examples" seeing as he is paying someone to make his site.

Yeah... and how he's going to code a shopping cart system...

...such a system costs more than 1500$, at least that's what my friends get. And for all I know they're really cheap.

Thanks stardog ;)
Doubt your gonna get anything like that mate.. you don't show your examples, I could be a prospective client and I haven't seen any proof of your work, other than you'd go get someone else to do it (so why would I pay extra to pay you for doing that when I could go to them direct and they'd get paid more without you takign your cut while I pay less)

I think this is just another one of those pipe dreams, weren't you the one who wanted to move to the US on a whim too?
