So I built a new PC over the weekend and it works like a charm but whenever I go into Windows and look under My Computer the DVD drive is not listed and only the CD drive is. I've also looked under Device Manager and it's not listed there either.

The CD drive is Master, I've plugged the black part of the IDE cable into it, DVD drive is Slave, I've plugged the grey part of the IDE cable into it and I've plugged the blue part into the mobo.

I've looked under the boot menu in BIOS and the DVD drive is definitely being recognised by the mobo.

The motherboard is an Asus P5B. Any ideas?

start - run - "compmgmt.msc"
Click "Disk Management"
Have a look and see how many CD/DVD drives are showing up in there.

Just the one CD drive - the master. :(

Well if it is coming up in BIOS correctly then you probably have Master/Slave setup correct and it is definitely being detected like you said. Does the other drive need drivers that Windows is not providing? Generally they don't need a special driver disk.
Maybe flip them so a different one is Slave and the other one is Master. Maybe a conflict between the 2 drives. (The settings for Master/Slave do nothing for performance, just identification)

Screw it. I'll just buy a SATA drive to match my new case and to get some more air flowing through the case.
