Problems : invalid or corrupt background01.vtf texture...

hi i recently purchased half life 2, and when i got home and installed on my pc, i then tried to access it and it comes up with "invalid or corrupt background.vtf texture materials/console" and so on, any way i can fix this? coz i really want to try the game on my new 6600GT!!! thanks in advance.

Try checking your HL2 files using the options at the bottom of the page here.

I have exactly the same problem, only with HL2 deathmatch and sourceforts (which i assume use the same background textures)

so basically, i need that link
and your link doesn't work
so please repost it
